OK, I can't believe I'm posting this. Do any of you guys watch American Idol? Usually I think it sucks, but I manage to catch at least one episode per season, usually when I'm in Iowa with my family. My parents like it, of all things. So, for that one time, I get interested. The same thing happened recently. The contestant I liked the best, Gina Glocksen, got voted off. Growl!

Post 2 by HauntedReverie (doing the bad mango) on Tuesday, 10-Apr-2007 14:54:03

she can't sing Evanescence, she was right to go, lol.
nah, AI sucks. I wouldn't lose sleep if this was it's last season. I hope Sanjia wins. lol, i hate his singing, that 17 year old girl is the best, but it'd be funny to see him win.

Post 3 by Blue Velvet (I've got the platinum golden silver bronze poster award.) on Tuesday, 10-Apr-2007 14:55:23

There is a kid named Sanjia (spelling?) who is horrible and shouldn't have even made it to the top 24, yet he is now in the top 8. I watch simply because I want him to get voted off. There are some very good ones this year, but he is not one of them.

Post 4 by lilac (I just keep on posting!) on Tuesday, 10-Apr-2007 16:04:49

I totally agree, I don't understand why he's still around. I guess the judges were right when they said that people must be going by looks and not vocals. I'm still mad about Sabrina being eliminated...

Post 5 by Musical Ambition (I've got the gold prolific poster award, now is there a gold cup for me?) on Tuesday, 10-Apr-2007 17:01:21

I can't believe Sanjaya is still there. I mean, when he first auditioned, I thought he was good, but now? Why is he still there? Did you guys hear about the girl who is on a supposed "hunger strike", until he gets voted off? It's completely ridiculous, but I saw her on TV one day. supposedly, she doesnt' like sanjaya one bit, and she thinks that he most certainly should not be there, so she decided to starve her body. why? I dont' know. What does it prove? It's not like she's doing anything that's harming Sanjaya. She's just harming herself. How stupid is that! They say that she's keeping herself hydrated, but she's not eating a thing.

Anyway, back to the show, my favorites are Jordan, Blake, and Melinda.

Post 6 by changedheart421 (I've now got the bronze prolific poster award! now going for the silver award!) on Tuesday, 10-Apr-2007 17:16:51

gina rocked thank you very much. now blake is my favorite.

Post 7 by chelslicious (like it or not, I'm gonna say what I mean. all the time.) on Wednesday, 11-Apr-2007 19:11:44

jordin, blake, and melinda are my faves.

Post 8 by Shadow_Cat (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Thursday, 12-Apr-2007 7:11:00

See, that's the thing, usually I don't have the time of day for AI, until I happen to catch an episode, but it has to be like in the top ten. Otherwise, the show still has too many people who suck. LOL. As of now, it has one that still does, and that's Sanjaya. I love how Simon Cowell threatened to quit the show if Sanjaya won. Simon shouldn't have made the threat, cuz I doubt he'd carry it through, but it does make an amusing statement.

Post 9 by Blue Velvet (I've got the platinum golden silver bronze poster award.) on Thursday, 12-Apr-2007 12:01:03

Leanne, that girl started eating again. I guess she realized he would last longer than she could.

And now Sanjia is in the top 7 as he made it through last night.

My faves are Melinda, Blake, Jordan, and Phil.

Post 10 by AngelKisses (An angel with no Halo) on Thursday, 12-Apr-2007 13:12:17

Sanjaya may not be the best singer, but he really has something. He just hasn't showed it yet. I mean after all, how did he get through the auditions and into the top 24 that the judges pick if he couldn't sing? But, the reason he is still on there is because he's a performer. He entertains...and that is what people want. I mean heck, people are turning on the show and watching it just to find out who this Sanjaya that everyone is talking about is, and what his hair will be like this time. Like Randy said, he's the smartest contestant. He's playing the game very well. And he didn't do too terribly bad for Latin week. He was the only one brave enough to take on a song with spanish lyrics. I dunno, it's just like J.Lo said, you can have the best voice in the world but not connect with the audience and they won't like you. So, it's not all about voice.

I really don't have a favorite this year. I mean everyone is going crazy over Melinda and Lekiesha but I just don't see what's all that about them. It's the same damn thing every week. Nothing new, and to be honest it's getting boring! If Sanjaya left the whole show would be boring. Chris is good, but I think the JT look alike thing is hurting him because people don't want another JT. Favorite right now....I'd have to say is Blake. And I am so glad that Hailey got booted off!

Post 11 by Musical Ambition (I've got the gold prolific poster award, now is there a gold cup for me?) on Thursday, 12-Apr-2007 13:33:29

I didn't know that girl started eating again. I just thought her idea of starving herself, was extremely stupid.

Even though I'm surprised that Sanjaya is still there, I do give him credit for Latin week. I thought that he actually did a pretty good job, and I give him props for being the only one to sing the song in actual Latin.

Post 12 by chelslicious (like it or not, I'm gonna say what I mean. all the time.) on Friday, 13-Apr-2007 8:44:00

i too was thoroughly impressed with sanjaya this week, and part of me is hoping he continues to step up his game.

Post 13 by jaguar (Addicted to the Zone) on Saturday, 14-Apr-2007 1:48:18

I'm not all that impressed with Sanjaya. Am glad Haley is finally gone. I like Phil, Chris, Blake, Jordan and Melinda but I find that over all I'm more detached this year. Just don't really see that wow factor.

Post 14 by Reyami (I've broken five thousand! any more awards going?) on Saturday, 14-Apr-2007 8:09:38

I heard some guy is staying on his roof until Sanjaya is voted off. some crazy people lol

Post 15 by chelslicious (like it or not, I'm gonna say what I mean. all the time.) on Wednesday, 18-Apr-2007 12:12:25

jordin's got it, in my opinion, but blake's a close second.

Post 16 by Blue Velvet (I've got the platinum golden silver bronze poster award.) on Wednesday, 18-Apr-2007 12:19:41

I am rooting for Melinda to win, but I also like Lakisha and Blake and Phil.

Detached is how I felt last year. There were no outstanding people at all last year in my opinion, including the guy who won. I think this year's crop is much better overall.

Post 17 by Blue Velvet (I've got the platinum golden silver bronze poster award.) on Wednesday, 18-Apr-2007 22:03:40

Halaluia! Sonjya is finally gone after tonight's show.

Post 18 by Musical Ambition (I've got the gold prolific poster award, now is there a gold cup for me?) on Thursday, 19-Apr-2007 11:56:43

Hallelujah! Finally, America gets the vote right! It's just kind of weird how well Sanjaya did at the auditions, but afterwards, he wasn't all that good.

My favorites are still Melinda, Jordan, and blake.

Post 19 by jessmonsilva (Taking over the boards, one topic at a time.) on Thursday, 19-Apr-2007 15:39:37

My favorites are jordan and blake. I wasn't a big fan of belinda that much, I dunno her voice just doesn't do it for me for some reason...

Post 20 by DancingAfterDark (I just keep on posting!) on Thursday, 19-Apr-2007 16:04:22

I stopped watching ages ago. Personally, I don't think a single one of this season's contestants are worthy of being the next American idol. I liked it much better last season, even though America fucked that one up.

I never heard Sanjaya sing and enjoyed it, and I agree with Cala. Gina couldn't sing Evanescence at all. I liked the seventeen-year-old the best.

Post 21 by Shadow_Cat (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Tuesday, 24-Apr-2007 16:49:46

I'm glad Sanjaya is finally gone! woohoo! Now I'm hoping for Melinda or Jordan.

Post 22 by silly_singer (The girl who's always lost in a melody) on Tuesday, 24-Apr-2007 18:03:40

I hope Melinda wins it, but I'm also quite impressed with Blake and Jordan! :-)

Post 23 by lilac (I just keep on posting!) on Friday, 27-Apr-2007 8:59:28

I think that jordan is a wonderful singer for her age. Not many seventeen year olds I know can sing like that.
I'm hoping that she stays around a little longer. I like Malinda as well.

Post 24 by Musical Ambition (I've got the gold prolific poster award, now is there a gold cup for me?) on Friday, 27-Apr-2007 9:12:46

I thought it was fantastic, what they did for charity this week. That's just amazing. It was just so heartbreaking to see all the stories they showed, and to see how so many people aren't as lucky as others. Did anyone here make a donation?

Post 25 by Shadow_Cat (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Friday, 27-Apr-2007 18:43:22

OK, since I'm not an avid Idol watcher, I missed the charity thing. Got anymore details, LeAnn?

Post 26 by Musical Ambition (I've got the gold prolific poster award, now is there a gold cup for me?) on Saturday, 28-Apr-2007 11:46:21

Well, they decided to hold a fundraiser to get money for charity, that will help children in american and Africa. During the show, they showed clips of how people live, and how much poverty they're living in, the diseases, etc. It was so sad to watch. I guess what they did, was teamed up with Bono, the lead singer of the band, U2. Bono has started up his own charity, that helps people in Africa. A few big name companies contributed, as well. The ones I can remember are the Gates foundation, AT&T, Ford. There were some more, but I just can't think of them at the moment.

So, on Tuesday night, when it was time for everyone to vote, with each vote that was called in, a certain amount of money went to the charity. On Wednesday night, they said that the votes had reached an all time record of over 70 million. Then, on Wednesday, they gave out a phone number for people to call, and contribute some more, if they chose. You could contribute by using a credit card, online, or by sending in a check or money order. I got the address to where you can send a check/money order, if anyone is interested.

Post 27 by Musical Ambition (I've got the gold prolific poster award, now is there a gold cup for me?) on Tuesday, 01-May-2007 22:46:12

I just wanted to say that I thought Blake did a fantastic job tonight (Bon Jovi night). He's one of my favorites, and I thought he was amazing. I just loved the way he made the song his own. It was completely original, and he did a great job with it.

Post 28 by Shadow_Cat (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Wednesday, 02-May-2007 6:24:52

I didn't get to watch it tonight. Had some friends over.

Post 29 by Shadow_Cat (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Thursday, 03-May-2007 8:49:08

So, who got voted off last night? I had company, so I didn't watch, but I believe they were going to eliminate two people.

Post 30 by Musical Ambition (I've got the gold prolific poster award, now is there a gold cup for me?) on Thursday, 03-May-2007 9:16:19

Chris and Phil were voted off.

Post 31 by Blue Velvet (I've got the platinum golden silver bronze poster award.) on Thursday, 03-May-2007 12:00:05

I would have rather seen Blake get voted off rather than Phil, but I'm not really all that interested anymore.

Post 32 by Musical Ambition (I've got the gold prolific poster award, now is there a gold cup for me?) on Thursday, 03-May-2007 12:06:57

No way! I like Blake. I think he's good. I would've liked to have seen LaKiesha go. I don't think she's been doing that good the past few weeks.

Post 33 by Shadow_Cat (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Friday, 04-May-2007 8:29:30

Thanks, guys. I appreciate the info. Smile.

Post 34 by Musical Ambition (I've got the gold prolific poster award, now is there a gold cup for me?) on Friday, 04-May-2007 8:48:26

SisterDawn, if you're still interested in the charity fundraiser, they're still taking donations. You can call 1-877-436-5243. There, you can make a donation, listen to frequently asked questions, or speak with a representative. I also have an address where you can send a check/money order. If you'd like to have that as well, just let me know, and I'll post it here.

Oh god no! Blake can't go! I love love love Blake! and Jordan.

Post 36 by Salem (Veteran Zoner) on Tuesday, 08-May-2007 8:39:41

Lakisha needs to go this week, then it will be a really good top three. I'm not as blown away with this season though as some of the previous seasons. I mean there are a couple really good singers, but something is just different about this year. Maybe it's just me, I don't know.

Post 37 by Musical Ambition (I've got the gold prolific poster award, now is there a gold cup for me?) on Tuesday, 08-May-2007 8:41:39

I agree. To me, this season hasn't been all that great. There are a few good singers, but something about it just doesn't seem to be the same as past seasons.

Post 38 by Reyami (I've broken five thousand! any more awards going?) on Friday, 25-May-2007 23:02:30

I am so glad Jordan won. You know, I said to myself I would never watch that show, but now that I've seen the talent from the top three singers in this season, I'm hooked. I blame my roommate here at Guide Dogs for the Blind. lol

Post 39 by Rowdyamerican (Veteran Zoner) on Saturday, 26-May-2007 2:55:01

I'm also glad she won. It should have been Melinda in the finals instead of Blake. I think Jordan still would have wiped the floor with her though.

Post 52 by CatWoman721984 (the Zone BBS remains forever my home page) on Monday, 06-Aug-2007 0:15:18

American Idol has been a complete joke after Carrie Underwood won. She's the best winner since Kelly Clarkson. Season 5 I thought there were far more talented people who deserved to win other than Taylor Hicks. I mean KAT, ELLIOTT, CHRIS DAUGHTRY, MANDISA, those were great singers.
Season 6 brought the curse of Sanjaya Malakar and Haley Scarnato when SUNDANCE head and SAbrina sloan should have made it into the top 12. I voted for MELINDA doolittle each week and got all pissed when she got kicked off. This coming season had BETTER be better.

Post 53 by Cousin Cap (Zone BBS Addict) on Monday, 06-Aug-2007 14:04:48

I haven't been all that invested in American Idol since John Stevens was ousted, but I finally think America got the right contestant into the top slot this year. I always disliked Melinda/Lekisha's singing, it was technically perfect, but usually too loud/brassy to be enjoyed. Jordan had the perfect mix of technique and great singing style, though. She could emote without shouting, and her voice was naturally a little lighter than either of the other ladies', and that worked very well on almost everything she performed.

Post 54 by SFAIdol (the Zone BBS remains forever my home page) on Friday, 07-Dec-2007 2:21:02

I was so glad Jordan won! She deserved it! I actually got to vote for her! What a miracle! Blake was good to, though, I have to admit. I have been a huge fan since season two and plan to stay that way for seasons to come.

Post 55 by singingsensation (I just keep on posting!) on Saturday, 09-Feb-2008 16:58:42

I like American Idol as well. I'm actually old enough to go on it, I'm 17. I don't know what my parents or my principal would say if I asked if I could audition for it. I really want to!!!! Let's hope that this season is a lot better than the last one!

Post 56 by changedheart421 (I've now got the bronze prolific poster award! now going for the silver award!) on Saturday, 09-Feb-2008 17:56:14

I thought last season was one of the best. So far, it seems like they have found quite a few promising singers for this year's show.

Post 58 by Winterfresh (This is who I am, an what I am about. If you don't like it, too damn bad!!!) on Thursday, 10-Jul-2008 5:32:20

American Idle is like a train reck... Once you start watching, u just can't stop... Honestly, this past season kinda sucked. David Cook performed, "music of the Night," ungodly well. But David Archeletta doing, "Think of me?" Just... Noooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!! It was good, but I am partial to that song and... no one... no one... NO ONE!! sings it better than Sarah.

Post 59 by Dirty Little Oar (I'd rather be rowing.) on Wednesday, 14-Jan-2009 13:58:38

So, did anyone see the blind guy last night. I didn't watch but I read about it in a recap. He made it to Hollywood. I wasn't going to watch this year, but I might have to tune in if the dude makes it through Hollywood.

Post 60 by Musical Ambition (I've got the gold prolific poster award, now is there a gold cup for me?) on Wednesday, 14-Jan-2009 14:23:29

I watched it, and he is very good. He has a likeable personality, too, but I want to see how he acts around others. Aside from being musically talented, he's also very smart. He went to college at the age of fourteen, and graduated at nineteen.

I thought me and that guy had a lot of similar interests, I really like him.

Post 63 by KC8PNL (The best criticism of the bad is the practice of the better.) on Wednesday, 14-Jan-2009 20:39:17

I'm probably going to get shot down for this, but oh well. I really don't think he was much better than the average singer, and the only reason he made it through was because of his blindness. Each season this show is on now, they need a hook to keep people watching. Didn't you notice how they kept pumping this guy's appearance up? Woooow! A blind guy who can sing! Sorry, but whether you are blind or not has nothing to do with whether you are a good singer. As I said last night in quicknotes shortly after this happened, if they get a deaf mute on there who can sing, that's impressive. But each season of Idol needs a sort of oddball character to keep people watching, and this time it's someone with low vision.

Post 64 by trampazoid (Account disabled) on Wednesday, 14-Jan-2009 21:23:43

I agree with you. His voice was good and all that but the way they kept talking about him like he was something majorly amazing was irritating and embarrassing for myself and my blind friends. But Ryan Seacrest trying to high-five the guy was so funny!!!

Post 65 by Musical Ambition (I've got the gold prolific poster award, now is there a gold cup for me?) on Thursday, 15-Jan-2009 14:59:22

I agree, and I said the exact same thing once they started talking about him. So many people think it's amazing if we can even tie our own shoes, and they make a big deal out of so many things that are ridiculous. I did like his voice, though, and I'm interested to see how he'll do.

Post 66 by Click_Clash (No Average Angel) on Thursday, 15-Jan-2009 18:30:23

lmfao at the deaf-mute comment.

I do agree in a way, and this sort of relates to what I said on another board about teachers making a spectacle of blind students who do good work. In the case of students, I don't think that we should be constantly singled out because of good academic performance; I believe everyone deserves the same amount of praise for that. I believe the same about people with any talent, including singing, but then I think back to the movie Blindness and the implications it makes about the abilities of blind people. Now, you can agree or disagree with me on the stand I take about that movie, but it is undeniable that many, many people are of the ignorant opinion that blind people really can't tie their own shoes, let alone do well on American Idol, and I think that this guy has the ability to change some people's minds while he's in the public eye. I really, really hope they don't go too over-the-top with it, but I'm glad for him and the opportunity he has to influence the public's opinion on blind people.

Namaste,
Becky

Post 68 by Gacktsmiko (Newborn Zoner) on Wednesday, 18-Mar-2009 1:43:25

What did everyone think of tonights Country show. That was the strangest verison of Ring of Fire I have ever heard. But Adam has this strange hottness about him, lol. I'm voting for him and Scott. They are both handsome..in their own way of course.

Post 69 by Blue Velvet (I've got the platinum golden silver bronze poster award.) on Wednesday, 18-Mar-2009 13:59:47

I don't like Adam, and I hated his version of that song. I know people want to put their own spin on a song, but he should have at least tried to make it sound a bit country since that was the theme of the show.

I thought last night's best performances were by Anoop, Kris, and Matt.

Post 70 by Musical Ambition (I've got the gold prolific poster award, now is there a gold cup for me?) on Wednesday, 18-Mar-2009 16:46:40
